Reservations required, seating is limited.

Join award-winning author Dava Sobel on Thursday, September 24, 2009
for a book signing, lecture and preview of Galileo: The Power of the
Telescope, a new Planetarium show produced at the Daniel M. Soref
Planetarium and guest-narrated by Sobel.

Sobel’s book Galileo's Daughter was based on 124 surviving letters to
Galileo from his eldest child. Ms. Sobel translated the letters from
the original Italian and used them to elucidate Galileo’s life work.
Galileo's Daughter won the 1999 Los Angeles Times Book Prize for
science and technology, a 2000 Christopher Award, and was a finalist
for the 2000 Pulitzer Prize in biography.

Sobel is also author of bestseller Longitude, the story of the
clockmaker John Harrison’s quest to solve the one of the greatest
navigation problems in history, and The Planets, a book combining the
unlikely subjects of astronomy, history, poetry and mythology.

Copies of Galileo's Daughter, Longitude and The Planets will be
available for purchase in the Museum Marketplace.
