Pynchon's pretty in-yr-face with the stereotype juggling here, doncha  
think. Reminds me somehow of the Disney movie I don't think they show  
any more, Song of the South.

Great graphics, Dave, and thanks for your research efforts more  
generally.  A treat it is to read a new Pynchon novel with you here.

In elementary school, at the beginning of the '60s,  teachers in our  
Lafayette, Louisiana school more than once taught us to feel sorry for  
the poor little picaninny kids, and to be glad we weren't born like  
them.
