Given a sidekick lawyer named Saunch, an obvious allusion, please explain how the author is NOT analogizing Don Quixote and Doc Quixote? 

Use, if you would, only examples from Chap 1 for now. Explain thse samples from Chap 1 in your answer if possible: 

p. 6  'This picture of Doc's showed a Southern Califronia beach that never was", etc.....

see "contrast knob of Creation"... "it would have an underglow, a luminous edge that the night was to turn epic"....
