Editing Pynchon?

Absolutist statements such as this - whatever their grounding in fact - are always hard to swallow. For those who know where you're coming from, this statement can be taken a number of ways; for those who don't - possibly because they haven't re-read GR lots of times - the statement can only be taken in one way, and that way is not a positive one.
GR always seemed to me like a big swirling stew out of which many things can be taken. I don't see the book as being as neat or as even as you seem to. I have compared it in the past to Miles Davis's 'Bitches Brew' and I stick by that comparison.
I still find it hard to understand how long-term Pynchonistas can hate ATD so. The book has its faults. So too does GR. Don't get me wrong, I still rate GR as by far P's best book. BUt ATD is UNDERRATED.
