            Finally, the fantastic Brazilian comic twins get their own
Vertigo series, and they do not disappoint. Brothers Fabio Moon
(Casanova) and Gabriel Ba’s (Umbrella Academy: Dallas) Daytripper is a
fine addition to their ever unwinding and beautiful library.

            With the start of the new year coming quite quickly,
Daytripper is a wonderful way to kick off the graphic festivities.
Both brothers worked on some of the comic world’s best works of 2009,
and it looks like they will continue this trend through the coming
year.

            Usually the brothers are behind the art, but with
Daytripper they find themselves behind the writing. In the case of
this story, their writing is on the same level as their naturally
gorgeous artwork.

            During both of their careers, Ba and Moon have drawn some
odd and quirky comics and characters. From baby Hellboy to talking,
time-traveling goldfish and dimension-hopping secret agents to
criminal masterminds that may or may not be Thomas Pynchon, they have
drawn a wide range of innovative work. In Daytripper, though, they
pull back from the imaginative and head for the realistic.
