while I gave up weighing in on arguments for Lent, and never looked back,
still I think Lennon probably didn't trip in the studio, if a lot of
biographical
evidence can be believed.

having an associative (pack rat) mind, it reminds me that:
a) there's an amusing anecdote about how when Mr Lennon
was vacationing in Greece and wanted one of his employees
to bring some acid, he had one of his (managers? handlers?
entourage?) call the dude, and apparently the only phone was in
a very public area, so the guy kept saying "yes, bring Mr Lennon's
medicine, you know, his MEDICINE, for his ACIDITY!" until the
London factor understood.

b) also the same source (Rolling Stone?) said that Mr Lennon
took so much acid at one point he "lost his color vision" - all the
hallucinations used up his visual purple?

c) also I am reminded of the jottings that various parties have made
during acid trips. Some of them can be found at erowid, etc,
and also Alexander Shulgin's PIHKAL and TIHKAL have samples.
Many people retain the power to write, at least a little, during trips.
What I've read doesn't convince me that LSD enhances writing ability,
and also reading about how spiders produce very impractical webs
on acid gives a clue. However, the human mind is an amazing thing,
and with practice, it's possible - I think - depending on how much of
an acid-head one was, and how determined and well-trained the mind
is to begin with...
