John, I never cc the writer of a message, or reply to all when I reply to
the P-Liste, as in many email programs the message would appear twice in the
originators inbox, and everyone P-Lister receives the message, obviating
cc's.  I'd be interested in other P-Listers's preferences.

My guess is that Pynchon thinks more of McEwan than you do. You'll have to

think any such thing? I did not say "Pynchon pitched in to defend McEwan,
despite the fact that Pynchon regards McEwan's work as mediocre."
 
Since you are (a) launching yet another of your trademark personal attacks,
(b) basing your 'argument' on the straw-man claim that I think I know what P
thinks of another author, and (c) an irritating but ultimately pathetic wee
scrote, I'm not going to bother reading any more of the email you sent to
the p-list but mysteriously omitted to cc directly to me. So you'll have to
