I reply only to the p-list to avoid inflicting double e-mails.  I haven't read anything by Roth (my Mom told me he was a misogynist asshole, and I took her at her word).  I have the impression that if I did read Roth, my ass would be considered grass by MalignD.  Actually, I think I did read one thing by him -- about a guy who was red-baited by his girlfriend and her daughter.  He does seem to hate women.
