What can you say about a period where there was not one but two shows (Diffrent Strokes and Webster)about a white family adopting a growth-challenged black kid? But Pynchon's also pulled bad shows like Hawaii 5-0 from the '60s. A Golden Turkey listing of TV shows.

TV always cannibalizes itself. Think of all the supernatural comedies
of the late sixties/early seventies. Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie, My
Mother the Car, The Ghost and Mrs Muir, Mr Ed, My Favorite Martian.
The Munsters actually beat the Addams Family to the air.
At one point more than half of broadcast series were westerns.
Superman, Batman, Green Hornet, Mr Fantastic, and Captain Nice.
Cops and Private I's?
Game shows?
Now we have phony reality shows and crime procedurals.
