So the quarrel wasn't with the method they were working on, but

Sigel had what reads like a praiseworthy psychotic break and no doubt
expected a little empathy and participation.  Hard things to find.
Normative structures: we love to hate them, but they are so pervasive
and we so used to them - "the Man has a branch office in each of our
brains"
