Thomas Pynchon, in pastel neon

	It only just showed up here so no qualitative judgments quite
	yet, but it's worth taking some time to pause and ogle the cover
	of Thomas Pynchon's forthcoming novel Inherent Vice. It's
	simultaneously as enticing and as off-putting as a book-cover
	could be, like a fever-dream mash-up of an air-brushed Fort
	Lauderdale T-shirt and Jimmy Buffett album art (with a little bit
	of Ghostbusters, by way of the car).

	The book's release date is August 4. It's been described as a
	"psychedelic mystery." It's way shorter than Against The Day (a
	spare-for-Pynchon 369 pages). And the cover looks like this...
