Forgotten Pynchon Article

Ah, anyone here remember an "autobiographical" article ... I think it used
to be posted on Modern Word but I can't find it there anymore ... about some
guy running into Pynchon a couple-three times during the 1990s? Had a beer
with him shortly after Vineland came out, then bumped into him at a rest
stop or something; Pynchon was supposedly driving an RV ... anyway, at this
point what I'm curious about was this author's claim that Pynchon, as of
late in the 90s, was supposedly writing a book (or part of one) that took
place in a Florida trailer park and involved UFOs, or something. Anybody
remember this, or know where it might still lurk upon the Internets? Google
is of no help...
