"1984" and "Gravity's Rainbow"

Forgive if this is common knowledge but I have not
read it on this list nor in the major commentaries.

If you have not reread 1984 since high school, did 
you remember that the London of that novel is being
bombed with @20-30 V-2 rockets a week still?   

A--and, do you remember the paragraph when Winston 
goes drinking in proles' pubs and sees the proles
scattering for cover at one point and reflects that
they seemed to know in advance when a bomb was coming
down on the area?
