I though the use of "Little Boxes" as the "Weeds" theme was right on- 
target. Those upscale McMansions in the opening montage were arranged  
with the same "hieroglyphic sense of concealed meaning", that same  
ordering of a community along the pattern of a printed circuit that  
Oedipa first encountered in San Narciso.
