Well, I've enjoyed everything by him from live performances (seeing
Stagger Lee at the Hollywood Bowl was delicious) to The Proposition
to his recorded lectures, 'The Secret Life Of The Love Song & The
Flesh Made Word' (includes an interesting account of his relationship
with his literature professor father) so perhaps I'll try the novels.
"From the age of 12 or 13, [my father] would read passages to me from
books that he thought were good - Dostoevsky, Nabokov. But it was
less a matter of what I learned from him than seeing what literature
did for him. When he talked about literature, I saw him become alive."

Speaking of McCarthy/Cave, Cave provides the soundtrack for the film
version of The Road.
