As far as I can tell, Hilarius savages a couple-two-three other things
as well like psychotherapy and psychotherapeutic drug treatments.
We've Had A Hundred Years of Psychotherapy And The World's
Getting Worse, James Hillman and Michael Ventura:

Pynchon writes: This provocative, dangerous, and high-spirited
conversation sounds like one that many of us have been
holding with ourselves, more and less silently, as times have
grown ever darker. Finally somebody has begun to talk out loud

Very reminiscent of the Firesign Theater's "Well, who am us, anyway,?"
followed by a list of names that includes "and me."
Frenesi clearly comes to mind. The simple lesson that hormones can &
do trump thought 'n political consciousness—in particular during the
high water-mark of sex 'n drugs 'n Rock 'n Roll—gets lost in the
shuffle of po-mo & conspiratorial talking points by a whole lot of
folks that think they're really smart 'n cute and have the pigskin 'n
tenure to prove it. The cardboard cut-out villains—well of course
they're evil, what do you think they're doing in this book anyway?
It's the ones who you KNEW were your good buddies & BF's that'll
really screw ya over. Leastaways in OBA's universe. And No-one is more
capable of screwing one over than one's self. Ya might call it an
inherent vice.
