Yep. I did say 'if you really want to...', I'm not saying 'Aha! Cracked the code.' But we p-listers are sensitive to these signifiers, whether they're intended that way or not, 'specially since Pynchon's last book - which was stuffed to the gills with signifiers, rsonances, refererences, etc. - was only a couple of years ago. And it had that going up is going North stuff right up front.
I don't want to say too much. The book is light, it's very funny, the dialogue is sharp as a razor. In some ways it's a bit of a departure for Pynchon, but I reckon even some Vineland haters will like this one *on its own terms*. And it might just possibly gain Pynchon a wider readership.
