In that NYT BigPharma sponsored "puff piece" the one clinically  
verifiable aspect of marijuana that separates it from the back—zero  
LD50, unlike any other analgesic—slips out.

I'll repeat it for those of you that may be on drugs: LD50, the most  
important metric of toxicity in a drug—the quantity of that drug  
necessary to produce a fifty-percent level of lethality when tested on  
animals—simply does not apply to marijuana.  There is no such thing as  
a lethal dose of Marijuana. That means if any reasonable standard of  
legality were to be applied to the chronic, it would be on display in  
the produce section of your local supermarket and would be quite the  
popular item in Farmer's markets [not that it isn't already] ;  )
