I'm not taking part in the group read but it seems you've picked up an
interesting thread here.

Don't know D&G well enough to comment on that aspect but I did read
Homage to Catalonia this April in which Orwell talks about a religious
comparison to anarchism.

I don't have the book with me and I don't remember exact quotes but he
said that the Catalonians didn't seem to miss the church after the
revolutionaries sacked them as anarchism provided a kind of substitute
religion for them.

Is anarchism the inevitable outcome of the secularisation of
Christianity? (Just an afterthought...)
