Been away and then insulating my basement so just now catching up on  
reading email.  I have a longer post coming but a few thoughts now.

Loved all the great parrot stuff. The image of a semi full of  
contraband parrots and their training in jungle myth is classic  
Pynchon and classic Humboldt County.

This isn't really very important, but don't really see  evidence that  
the Grand Jury flash -forward scenes are Frenesi's imagination.

As far as whether Weed was turned, possibly by the dentist. We have  
only Vond's word. I'm skeptical. I think the dentist represents a  
certain kind of self knowledge. Weed has a conscience and sense of  
responsibility intensified by witnessing the cop violence, but knows  
he isn't cut out to stand up to torture( the dentist)  and is leery  
of standing up to the state to the point of personal pain. I think  
this informs his pacifism. He doesn't want to to be a militant leader  
because he doesn't want to know anything that would make him the  
target of torture. He is in fact in the process, not of betraying pr3  
but stepping away from being an unelected leader.

Snuvvle, who really puts the auto in autoerotica is more credible as  
a plant. Between Portia of the unstrained mercy and Porsche the  
original 911, Rex prophetically loves the 911.  2 v's in his name  
which sounds like snuffle; TRP uses those v's carefully. . He also  
gets away after the killing, and Brock deems him pure. We don't  
really know.
