Great start, Laura. By other actives too. I'll try to contribute more when
the "Wake" marathon is over.
I just add now that Oedipa's saying no to Hilarius is also one among many
passages in TCoL49 that seem to connect it to the genre of the satiric
quest narrative. In these narratives, the protagonist tries to keep as
sane and clearheaded as possible [which often equals setting OUT on a
quest] in the growingly mad world around her/him.
