IVIV (13) host

Hi, my name is Peter Petto. I'm on the slate to host IVIV (13).

I'm a constant lurker here. What I'm able to read comes in bursts  
usually a week or two late -- so I have tended to post fairly rarely.

Also keeping me behind the eightball is the fact that I'm mid-start  
into a second career as a high-school mathematics teacher, after 35+  
years in manufacturing. I live and teach in the western suburbs of  
Cleveland, Ohio.

My plan is to offer some conversation-starters covering roughly five  
pages a day throughout this upcoming week. First, I'll offer a brief  
plot summary. And then I'll identify and start to nail down some of  
the references that some readers might not automatically know. (I know  
that many of these are old hat to many here, but I have several  
friends who have used p-list postings, particularly the reference- 
decoders as scaffolding for successful reading.) And I know that some  
of the references I call out may have been decoded earlier as I was  
distracted and not paying attention.

I'll also ask questions to others posting on this section...in general  
not to be combative, but to tease out more detail.

Hoping to fly us all all the time toward grace and hoping too that  
when we come out of this spate of fog for something else this time,  
somehow, to be there instead.
