As ideal theories Marxism and capitalism, as promulgate by Adam Smith, is a
wonderful theory. The Hidden Hand, Tinkle Down, etc are all good in the
abstract. But Adam Smith saw the beginning and rapid growth of corporations
as destructive of Capitalism as he saw it. Coporations were held in hands of
a few, who were responsible only to the executives and shareholders. Smith
saw capitalism as a means of developing an economic system that would
benefit all.

A key failure of capitalism is that it does not take greed into account.

As we all know, Marx wanted the proles to take over the means of production,
eliminate the alienation of the worker from the work. There was to be a
natural transition from capitalism to the rule of the proletariat. In fact
that rule would be a dictatorship of the proletariat, until the necessary
changes had been made.

A key failure of Marxism is that it does not take the lust for power into
account. The proletariat would no more give up its power than Obama has
given up much of Bush's powers Bush added to the powers of the presidency.
