Chap 16, the IV drip continues: Penny, a bad Penny?

 p. 276Penny was nervous about Doc 'cause she shopped him to
the federales, we know, "Thought you'd never want to speak
to me again."

Doc holds no grudge, jokes the FBI were stimulating so he owes
Penny dinner. 

I am reminded of Doc saying you might as well trust a bad guy sometime
as the good ones you know. Relevant? Is this why he 'trusts' Penny or
does he just want more info from her?  

Doc basically goes to Penny at the bathroom--to make sure she goes out with him?
