Thanks for that, Peter. It came through a bit garbled, though.
FWIW, Altman was *way* cool, and Schickel is a pompous, priggish,
mean-spiriterd, out-of-touch, class-obsessed plonker. He co-authored a
horrible 'celebration' of Humphrey Bogart a few years ago, which I
reviewed for popmatters:

Throughout the Bogart book, Schickel displayed the same sort of horror
of smoking, drinking, and enjoying oneself alluded to in that LA Times
article, stopping just short of dancing on Bogart's grave. Made me
wanna puke!
