Well, explicate away, I'm all ears. I've certainly been enjoying  
Inherent Vice, but like all of Pynchon's tales this one has its darker  
sides. I'd love for someone to come up with an exegesis that  
ultimately produces a happy ending. I've got my imagination working  
away at the tales of Lemuria and Doc's visions of L.A. getting drown.  
If you've got a better offering I'd love to hear them.

So who is running Shasta? How can we assume she didn't lay down traps  
for Doc?
