presented gambling as a major metaphor for capitalism and its risks.

Me: I think it's a better metaphor for religion.

Pascal's famous "wager" is somewhat related except that betting on the 
existence of God, he said, is practically a sure thing--everything to gain 
and nothing of lose (not much anyway).

The gambling INDUSTRY is more than a metaphor--it's IS capitalism.
