Sportello - Door/Window/Doc/Pynchon

The grid is a famously ubiquitous modern ordering tool.  A Sportello
is  a framed limited portion of a limitless grid, and its contents are
essentially an editing of a much larger reality.

A sportello grid is essentially a tool capturing the projection of a
3D view onto a 2D plane, sort of a precursor to a photograph.
