just as astrology posits the particular moment of
birth as being important in creating a person, perhaps
the music and memories of one's childhood have as much
to do with creating a personality. The stars in Doc's
childhood were these musicians, and his lingering
youthfulness (a quality also celebrated in song: Forever Young,
Young at Heart, etc) is something that was set up early on
by their alignment.

but at this juncture, those great songs and groups
appear only as occasional blessed relief in what is
apparently a fairly lengthy drive otherwise filled by
the "Super Surfin' Marathon.
