It doesn't take a paranoid to realize that you have to keep the
Praetorian Guard happy.
Giving him a chance isn't that much to ask.
His vision is still inspiring. His books are still good. His look-and-feel is
still refreshing. The back benches are filling with different butts.
The wonderful thing is that a person who has said those marvelous
things is now the nominal leader of the world's largest war machine.
Not that the nature of the machine changed overnight when he got
elected. But that the discourse includes a prominent place for the
guy who wrote Dreams from my Father, and The Audacity of Hope,
gives me goosebumps still.
