ran into Doris Day this morning reading Cleveland Amory book on cats.
Apparently she's an animal rescuer, dating from her childhood on.
Neighbors left their dog tied up in the yard and went on vacation,
Doris and her mom took the dog to her uncle's place, where he stayed.

Was unaware Terry Melcher was her son.  Sad.
Only knew she, like Deanna Durbin, at some point retired and made it stick.
