IVIV Hope Harlingen: a wacky theory (possible spoilers)

wacky theories: what would the p-list be without them:

okay, what are the initials of Hope Harlingen: HH.

A-and who does that remind us of:  Hubert Humphrey.

And, just as there's an extended metaphor somewhere in the book about
how US addiction to war is similar to a mother's addiction to dope, Hubert
Humphrey was caught up in the Vietnam War, co-dependent with Johnson.

  and Johnson's refusal to let HH come out against the
war publicly ruined his presidential bid.

Now any dovish portion of the Democratic Party which remained could be compared
to Amethyst, "not intoxicated" by the addiction to bellicosity.

Hope, by the way, seems to be quite the activist, seeking out ways and means
including Doc for redeeming her family.  There's really nothing corny
about that.
And sometimes those plans of mother love succeed: otherwise, none of
us would be here.
(Faith  - sometimes "Fay" means "faith" doesn't it?  At least it sounds like it.
And Hope, of course....and charity, the way Doc does pro
bono work sometimes...these three...)
