David Morris:

As long as we're throwing around the Koarse Korrespondences, a, uh,
friend of mine told me that those chocolate-covered bananas reminded
him of this bit from GR (from Pudding's nightly adventures):

"He leans forward to surround the hot turd with his lips, sucking on it
tenderly, licking along its lower side... he is thinking, he's sorry,
he can't help it, thinking of a Negro's penis, yes he knows it abrogates
part of the conditions set, but it will not be denied, the image of a
brute African who will make him behave..." (GR, 235)

- which of course echoes Slothrop's fantasy of the men's room at the
Roseland Ballroom (esp. p. 64), and also echoes Doc's departing quip
to the two FBI agents in IV:

"I know that the Director has a thing about spade penises, and I sure
hope you find Mickey before any of that cell-block stuff starts
happening." (IV, 75)

I apologize for the bad taste of my friend's associations. OTOH, Pynchon
DID write those things, so...
