IV strikes me as potentially the most autobiographical writing we  
could hope to get from Pynchon. There's a later scene of Doc getting  
it on with Luz [she appears in the next chapter] with jets roaring  
overhead in some abandoned residences near LAX's air-path. "A  
screaming comes the sky" and through the bedroom walls.
