My husband worked for the government (FDIC) under Bush I cleaning out
the S&L portfolios, he liquidated bad banks; A Royal Scam not quite
as Royal as the current one. Private business, banks for example, have
to know about REO and the land they are on. The government, for
example, the CCE provides lots of information, as you note, flood
maps, for example. Anyway, what astounded him was how the properties
were sold and packaged and sold by folks and to folks who had never
set eyes on the properties or each other. Computer models were used to
assess the properties unseen. I'll disagree with you about the
government holding all the information; most of it, as you note,
because it must be submitted to government is housed by government or
government agencies, some former agencies that went public but in the
current Scam have been Pac-Maned by the tax payers also hold such data
and information, records and documents. However, Title Insurance
Companies, to name just one, maintain tons of information
independently generated and analyzed. Again, as I noted in a prior
discussion, the Golden Gang is run by Insurance Companies.

Because Real Estate is more an intangible asset today, sales is
shifting to computers like all other assets.
