serendipitous bit of alligator history

Shakespeare writes of "Alligators Stuffed on Apothecaries walls"...R & J

(I do not think this is relevant to V. just an example of how they have long 
been
an exotic hunted creature.) 

Elsewhere he elaborates that they just like to lie in the sun on river banks----
existentially content to peacefully take in the sun.....but when angry are
fierce attackers..................................................

So, as we knew, to be caught in the underground sewers is not to be
in their natural element.....
