Chronic City? Does it stay boring?

I was let down by this book too. I feel like the Baudrillardian telling of a
story is so 1990. And it wasn't though provoking. Everytime I read a Lethem
book, I always feel like he has something really good and interesting going but
then he can never bring it all to fruition. His books are better read as just
the plot summaries on the inside flap of the book - then they are amazing!!!
There's still a couple of his books that I plan on reading and I keep hoping
one of them turns out well. The main character for Chronic City kept reminding
me of the character played by William H. Macy from the movie Magnolia. I agree
and don't believe any of the characters were too believable or compassionate
except for Oona.
