Bradley Manning

Dear Pynchon friends. Bradley Manning has been in solitary for 7 months. The military will not affirm that he has sheets or a pillow, that the lights go out at night, that drug treatments are voluntary or prescribed by an independent physician. He is only allowed to exercise for 1 hour a day. The military says he can watch TV for 1 hour, but what hour? what is actually available as news to him? Basically all we have is what the military asserts and they have been consistently lying to the public since before the start of the war in Iraq.

After the destruction of Jose Padilla's mind while held in custody, concerned citizens must do what is possible to insist on the humane treatment of citizens held by the U.S. I urge you to find the time to write letters to your elected reps, and or local papers and insist that Bradley Manning be afforded all the constitutional rights which are his due as a citizen.

Bradley Manning did what he did out of deep convictions that the public was being lied to on a large and systematic basis. He said he was ready to face prison or death to release the truth. He is doing what Obama falsely promises. He is honoring his oath to defend the constitution against all enemies. He is one of the great heroes of our age and must be defended by those who want constitutional self-government rooted in truth, accountability and integrity, and all those who refuse to be party to war crimes against our current treaties.
