Michael Moore advised Nader to bargain with the Gore campaign,
offering to ask his supporters in Florida to vote Gore, in return for
certain commitments (can't remember exactly what)
that seems like a way a 3rd party could build influence,
(assuming that they would have done this for him)
it would be nice to have an ongoing 3rd party built around ignored
issues - like peace, environment, corporate accountability - becoming
a player and in it for the long haul...dealing with other parties,
sustaining challenging themes that the Democrats wish they dared to
express, like the tea party does for the Republicans (only they would
not be evil...),building local machines, the beginning of a >2 party
system which would make American politics much more interesting,
wouldn't it? (I mean, Manicheanism is just as wrong in politics as in
religion...)
whereas Nader's etiolated run used up nourishment that could have
built a party machine, and in so doing, inflicted damage on the greens
they still haven't recovered from
