'Romeo and Juliet': Just as You Misremembered It

I thought this was hilarious when I heard the NPR story. I've always
been baffled by the use of Romeo and Juliet as a metaphor in sappy pop
songs. Don't they know they committed suicide (stupidly) after pissing
off everybody and screwing over Paris who seemed like a pretty nice
guy?
Blue Oyster Cult of all people kinda got it right, probably with some
help from Patti Smith.
