Oh, now I see Ian's point ... I overlooked that the crouching man turned toward the man in front of the window before his white face loomed.
That suggests, to me at least, that the statue is inbetween the struggling couple and the "another" person who was standing in front of the window -- which is, I think, more like the placements that Mark originally proposed than the placements that I suggested.
Thanks for clarifying, Mark.
Now if we could just get our hands on a map and some building plans to confirm the theory...
