As we Tarot fans know, The World is only one of the Major Arcana. So
right there, he's missing about 21 important other cases.
AtD relevance:
It is what it is. Like Popeye. And maybe that matter-of-factness is
akin to the "grace" that Basnight experiences?
GR relevance:
I think GR is much more oriented around Goedel.
V. relevance:
i) it's really funny! I mean, to have the National Socialist in the
crowd earnestly applying cryptography and coming up with such a flat,
bland statement
ii) and to have it addressed to KM personally
iii) It's sort of like the people who listen to Sphere
(Sphere/sferics...hmmm...) and hear Bird
iv) logical positivism would seem to be a clear-headed alternative to
the ugly mysticism of the Nazis; is it fair to say that Weissmann's
use of DWIAWDFI is, like rain on your wedding day, ironic?
v) W misunderstands KM as a spy at first - that's the hook that gets
him involved - and then even more deeply detournes the endeavour from
a context of scientific inquiry to the delivery of an adage - how can
Mondaugen possibly concentrate after this (plotwise, it's genius:
reason to leave, sheds light on Weissmann, and funny)
vi) and what an adage to come from the sky!
Not something earnest like "to thine own self be true", or immediately
helpful like "don't draw to an inside straight"...
vii) is it fair to say that Weissmann's logical operations on
Mondaugen's raw data are an example of the shortcomings pointed out by
the Tractatus?
viii) And of course, maybe the sferics actually ARE telling Mondaugen
exactly that!
