OK, "moulage" isn't exactly a word one bandy's about in casual conversation.  Pynchon may have picked it up while writing safety manuals at Boeing.  Boeing certainly must have had an interest in predicting the grisly results of plane crashes.  So Benny's nocturnal encounters with SHROUD and SHOCK may have been a tad autobiographical. 

Tough choice:  sucking chest wound or mutilated sexual organs.  Choose only one.

Pynchon seems to be saying that not only are humans threatened by inanimate machines, but inanimate machines are threatened by humans.  Mutually assured destruction.
