just a tidbit on Against the Day

The first section has the sub phrase LIGHT ACROSS THE RANGES...with
lots of meanings to the word range......

Browsing in a bookstore the other day, I saw a copy of Samuel Butler's
EREWHON when it was a Modern Library edition. Isn't now. 

Erewhon, or Nowhere scrabbleized, Butler's utopian work....had this
title when first published in 1880:
