Possible but not really email address

As someone with ties to Cornell University, I've been aware for some years
of Pynchon's alumni status. I've searched his name countless times on the
website. Now, all of a sudden, he's been assigned a net id (a Cornell email
address). I'm not sure if this is: standard procedure for Cornell to give
net ids to alumni who graduated 50 years ago, a sign he's become active in
alumni affairs (though I've never heard of him returning to the University
or anything of the sort), or some IT person's idea of a joke. Either way,
here's a link to my searchof "pynchon" on the website, for what it's worth
(likely nothing). It was recently created, too, as in November 6, 2010.
