Hello and test and...

Hello all 
 Been outa touch. My iMac died from bad capacitors. Apple had extended coverage for the problem but I never knew I had it until too late.  Called apple, many apologies but no help. Anyway. had been saving for a laptop and got one. Able to transfer most everything from the still functioning hard drive of my iMac.  So, testing my pynchon mailbox. 

Been reading new and old writers. Didn't like Lethem's latest, not impressed by John Irving's Last Night at twisted River.. now reading Barbara Kingsolver's Lacuna. 

 Lacuna is ringing my bells. In my opinion the disparaging reviews were by people who must be reading some great books, but I think think it may have been a temporary attack of assholery. Haven't enjoyed a novel so much for a long time. She keeps getting better, the topic is fascinating and relevant and full of hiistorical information, with clever and well-used literary devices.
