Anyone else reminded of the famous "then I'll go to hell" line
of Huck's in his eponymous novel as Gaddis writes of the
guy who says he prefers it?......(but I do remember jokes
about preferring hell from tough-talking but happy-seeming older
relatives and friends of my dad 'where their friends would be'
and I ask bebecause the remark about 'falling down a well" also
is what happens to one boy in Huck Finn, if memory serves
also a way to commit homicide especially in early centuries
[see 13th Century recordsĀ at Google Books if interested]
