Wyatt thinks it insane to have his work seen as a collaboration (We?)
with a critic to whom he would pay a tithe (You? You?). Cremer might
believe that Wyatt is evil in turning down the offer as Wyatt is not
willing to "inquire what is advantageous for himself." (Cf., Chapter
III epigraph) But Wyatt's fevered green eyes are wild and
uncomprehending, time itself is diseased, absolutes (including
twilight and dawn) have become confused, and that which is profitable
is concealed. What's a motherless child to do?
