Calvanist predestination was conceived precisely to remove human
action from responsibility for an individuals ultimate fate.
Predestination logic is an extension of Luther's teaching that
salvation was via "grace," a pure gift from God, not earned in any way
by man. Calvinism equates the decision to believe/accept this grace
with human action, thus predestination functions to make this act of
believing involuntary. Calvinism essentially codifies a completely
fated world, set in motion like a machine from before the advent of
time.
