GR translations: except for William the very first

Am I correct in thinking that all we know at this point in the book is 
that both William and Tyrone have crossed the Atlantic?

We learn of William's return to England and of the Slothropine Heresy 
only much later.

For what it's worth and aside from trying to decipher Mike's paragraph,  
the Heresy is of much greater import in the total scheme of the book 
than the return. I mean, in setting William apart from the others
